Jim Howell founded Howell Plumbing Supplies in 1958. The company was purchased in 1973 and assigned its current name Howell Pipe & Supply in 1997 to better reflect the nature of the business. A series of strategic acquisitions expanded the Howell product line and services to pipe, valves, actuators and fittings and onsite custom fabrication.

Fifteen years ago, Howell Pipe & Valve Supply launched a Quality Management System (QMS), with a deep commitment to continuous improvement. The success of Howell’s QMS remains only as strong as our employees who are empowered and trained in all aspects including regular updates and company-wide meetings. Process documentation, monitoring and control help to ensure that Howell’s QMS is functioning properly while meeting the requirements of our customers and stakeholders. Activities such as Internal Audits, Customer Audits and Management Reviews provide input to Senior Management enabling them to make informed business decisions.

Product traceability is provided through certified Mill Test Reports (MTR’s). This comprehensive database is the backbone of our Counterfeit, Fraudu- lent, and Suspect Item Program (CFSI) which provides our customers with the assurance that they are receiving top level quality products.The Howell QMS (Georgetown location) was registered to ISO 9001 in 2003. Working with nuclear based customers, Howell has received approved vendor status with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, SNC-Lavalin, AECON and E.S. Fox to the Z299.3 standard.
